Aircraft Spins Wildly into Palm Trees at Well-Known California Beach
A chopper flying over a crowded southern California shoreline suddenly started spinning out of control, eventually losing altitude and smashing into a line of palm trees as onlookers watched.
Videos uploaded on social media capture the chopper beginning to twirl above Huntington Beach then descending in the direction of the border of the beach, where it becomes wedged amidst palm trees and a staircase near the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Details
Emergency responders said five individuals were transported to a medical facility including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” subsequent to the crash on that day.
Three individuals on the road were hurt. Information on their wounds were not yet released.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
Planned Function
Officials indicated the helicopter was associated with an yearly “Cars and Copters” charity gathering scheduled for the following day.
