One ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a colleague that got attacked by a knifeman received the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a weapon to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.

"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera footage released by the force showed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.

He ran into the policeman who tripped and fell to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being continually attacked with the weapon.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a open target, concluding the struggle to an end.

Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his throat and additional wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered cut injuries.

The department said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to control his partner's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel reached the scene.

The latest award arrives subsequent to the three officers won organizational Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local union branch in April 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

"The actions of all three officers eventually rescued each other and resulted in no civilians experienced any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in spring 2024, according to officials.
