Indianapolis Colts Battle Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action

Guten tag, fussball fans. How are you? Alles klar I trust on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the first in the nation’s capital.

Pre-match Key Moments

As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.

Well, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in Pittsburgh?

In a similar vein the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.

First Quarter Action

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver cannot reel in a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!

Touchdown Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.

An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. The placekicker misses the point after attempt. Oops.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. Advantage Atlanta.

Other Tenth Week Matchups

Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)

  • (4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) New York Jets v Browns (2-6)

What a feast. I’m planting my flag on the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
