It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their appearance will take the form of a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
